What Is Vegan Collagen?

Vegan collagen-seekers, seek no more. Our newest plant-based powder has just landed, and it's packed with more superfoods and adaptogenic herbs than you can imagine. Best of all? It's completely vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO, and is made in a factory that does not produce products containing common allergens including tree nuts, peanuts, and soy. Did we just make your day? We sure hope so. Keep reading to get the inside scoop on all of this product's glowing goodness.

After returning home to California from our spontaneous travels in Bali (where we indulged in essentially all plant-based meals), we felt the desire to incorporate more superfoods, veggies, and grains into our everyday diets, and opted away from consuming meat as much as possible. What resulted in our bodies was incredible; we felt lighter and more energized, and overall, we just felt good. Our intention with creating a plant-based vegan collagen booster was to bring that same incredible feeling to our family and friends, but in a way that they could incorporate seamlessly into their lifestyles without having to do a complete 180 in their diets. It was important for us that our blend contained 100% vegan ingredients that first and foremost, helped support collagen production - the rate of which depletes as we age - and secondly, contained powerful nutrients that have been proven for centuries in Ayurvedic and Eastern medicine to work wonders for the body. With this purpose in mind, we sought out to bring together the world’s best superfoods, medicinal herbs, and adaptogenic mushrooms, and pack them all into one glow-boosting, health-enhancing powder. That being said, we are so excited to be able to share with you our little bundle of self-loving care – our vegan collagen booster  created with love and the whole-hearted intention of leaving you absolutely glowing.

Here’s what’s inside:

Camu Camu Fruit
Native to the Amazon rainforest and touted as the world’s greatest source of Vitamin C (it contains 60x more than your average Orange), this tiny fruit is packed with an impressive amount of antioxidants that help to lower oxidative stress and reduce inflammation. Did we mention that Vitamin C supports your body’s #1 need in being able to produce collagen?

Amino Acids (Glycine, Proline, Lysine)
Together with proper amounts of Vitamin C, these powerful building blocks are essential in forming collagen’s glue-like substance in the body to help support joint lubrication and supple skin. Vegans – our amino acids were created synthetically and are never derived from animal sources. *breathes a sigh of relief*

Ashwagandha Root
This ancient medicinal, adaptogenic herb has been used for over 3,000 years to reduce inflammation while decreasing blood sugar and blood pressure levels. It has also been known in Ayurvedic tradition to promote longevity, relaxation, and vitality.

Amla Berry
Also known as Indian Gooseberry, this adaptogenic herb has been proven to slow down the aging process by improving heart health and balancing stomach acids, all while improving skin quality and promoting healthier hair. It’s also another great source of Vitamin C and has been used in the ancient Indian tradition to promote blood circulation in the heart.

Goji Berry
It goes without saying – Goji Berries are an amazing form of antioxidants and are known to boost liver health and support weight loss. But what most people don’t know is that these nutrient-dense berries, native to the Himalayan mountains, have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years as a way to cure other bodily ailments and act as a catalyst to longevity.

Pomegranate Seed
Another superfood packed with antioxidants, Pomegranate Seeds are not only beneficial in fighting free radicals and reducing inflammation, they’re also great for maintaining a healthy weight mass and increasing circulation in the body.

Matcha Green Tea
Matcha contains a unique and powerful class of antioxidants called catechins, which promote healthy brain and heart functioning. This ancient Japanese meditation aid also works to detoxify the body while calming the mind and reducing inflammation.

Ginger Root
Originating in Southeast Asia, this luxurious spice has a history spanning over 5,000 years. Known to ease inflammation and aid in digestion, Ginger has also been used for its antiseptic properties and its ability to increase blood circulation.

Turmeric Root
Dating back to 500 BCE in Ayurvedic practice, this vibrant orange-yellow spice is renowned for its heart-healing benefits, as well as its potent anti-inflammatory and free radical-fighting abilities. It’s also believed that Turmeric reduces symptoms of depression and lowers the risk of common brain diseases.

Reishi Mushroom
This well-loved adaptogenic mushroom has been hyped all over the media, and for good reason; it’s been proven to contain a rich dose of antioxidants and promote cell regeneration, along with a variety of other benefits such as helping to aid in healthy liver function, reducing blood pressure, and fighting cancer cells.

Chaga Mushroom
Another crowd-favorite, this adaptogenic mushroom fights inflammation, boosts immunity, and helps lower cholesterol levels. Grown on the bark of Birch trees in cold climates, Chaga has also been esteemed for its potential cancer-fighting properties.

Tremella Mushroom
Otherwise known as Snow Fungus or White Jelly Mushroom, this silky white skin-loving 'shroom has been prized for centuries as the secret to youthful skin and a bright, glowing complexion. Supposedly used by imperial Concubine Yang Guifei, known as the most beautiful woman in all of Chinese history, this beautiful mushroom is packed with Dietary Fiber and boasts a rich dose of Vitamin D.

Monk Fruit Extract
We chose this native Asian fruit as opposed to Stevia Leaf or other artificial sweeteners due to its recognition as the healthiest and least-harmful sweetener around. Also known as Luo Han Guo, this zero-cal, zero-carb, zero-fat fruit has also been regarded for its high antioxidant levels, as well as its ability to combat respiratory ailments.

Bilberry Fruit Powder
Because we love anything aesthetically-pleasing, and we don’t necessarily love artificial coloring (it’s typically not vegan-friendly), we added a bit of Bilberry to create the pink-mauve color of our collagen powder. Cute, right? Ps, Bilberry also has some benefits of its own: used in World War II by British Royal Air Force pilots, this European berry has been scientifically proven to improve visual acuity while improving circulation and preventing cell damage.

Along with all of the incredible ingredient-based benefits that we’ve dropped into our reusable glass jars, we’ve also pledged to do our part and give back to the community. For every sale of our collagen powder, we’ll donate 5% of the purchase price to Futures Without Violence, an amazing charity whose cause is dedicated to ending the sexual exploitation of women and children.

If you made it this far through the article, you’re just as much of an information-nerd as we are…and we LOVE. Just remember, the more you know, the more you glow ;) Until next time, wild things.
